Negativity in the church is real, brain washing is real too. I was told that everything a christian says and does has to be back up with scripture. Well, people can take scripture out of context and twist it to their own advantage so backing it up for me did not always help my situation. People spouting GOD with the same mouth they use to spout their hatred is what I have experienced. No wonder I ran from Christianity for many years.
I have found a church that praises GOD and does not care what you look like or wear. They are there to praise the lord and have fellowship. If you want to come to church in a dress or pants or a suit and tie or jeans and a T-shirt... Hubby and I hope to visit that church when I am able to walk again but for now we watch in on TV. www.transformingtruth.org has help us greatly overcome.
Praising God is just that.......Praising HIM.

Your church sounds like ours. I love being able to wear a dress or pants, and not being judged.
So true about people twisting the scripture and using it how they want...
God is love.... and we're expected to do the same.... not judge.
Good post about praising God!
That's why I like to read my Bible for myself. The Lord can explain it so much better than others who may or may not want to twist it to meet their own agendas. I'm happy you found a church--there are so many intent on worshipping God and living their lives in accordance to His word.
I am so happy you have found a church that really worships the Lord.
Yes my friend I am sad to sad that I have seen negative churches that only judge others.
Praying together as we lift those ones up to HIM.
Blessings and hugs,
Bren
I know what you mean about individuals backing up whatever it is they are trying to pedal with scripture. People can twist things out of context, but the Word stands alone. It stands firm. And God created us to "glorify Him and to enjoy him forever.' That's the "chief end of man" and straight out of the catechism we learned as children and one of my favorite phrases. based on scripture. I can tell you love Him, Tammy. I feel it each time we talk. Keep on keepin' on!
XO,
Sheila :-)
Isn't it a shame that there are many churches where Christians are hurt? Sometimes I wonder how we have gotten so far away from Jesus' idea of the church. I am so happy that you have found a place to truly worship. That is the whole purpose for our exsistance. I pray that God will continue to bless you and your church family. Carla
This was wonderful, Tammy... the older I get, the less tolerance I have for negativity in church, too. I've never understood how anyone who truly knows HIM can dare look down on another human being... aren't we all just sinners saved by grace?
Hi Tammy! You know there are always folks who step over the line to judge others and use the scriptures for their own purposes. How sad they do this in the name of Jesus.
I'm glad you've found a church that's filled with love and the main focus is on God.
Our little church is like this. We're all very casual here on the island and we have folks from every walk of life and we're all just family. The family of God...oh, I feel another song coming on!
Where the Spirit is - there is love!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Here I am, 63 years old, and for the first time in my life I have found a church ---- a REAL church!
I've been going for about 4 months now, and I am still amazed that there really could be a place of worship that is so much like the early Christian church. I don't ever remember having this freedom of worship. This church has the simple motto of "Hear God and do what He says." Kind of puts it all in a nutshell, doesn't it?
