First you see it then you dont??? Black Stripe Mushroom?

"Black Pinstripe with Silver Metallic Lace"
Well, at least that is what I call it.

This morning I was up before the sun, sleeping in was not an option as
I was waiting on an early morning package to be delivered so I took this opportunity to get camera ready.
I have been looking for this elusive black stripe mushroom I had seen when I spotted those orange pinwheel mushrooms last week or so. This striped mushroom was not in full bloom so-to-speak so I only got one shot and I was in a hurry to get away from all the Mosquitoes.
As luck would have it I by accident deleted the photo from my camera.
I figured it would be there the following morning.

Each morning since, I have been out in the yard
looking around the same spot searching for it.

AH!!! Reason being I have not spotted it? I was not up at the crack of dawn to see it. BUT this AM taking advantage of my early rise I found it in all its splendor.
BUT I was not alone..... Here came the Mosquitoes big time and to make matters worst, the humidity was thick as butter you could cut it and serve it on toast. It was playing havoc on my camera lens and screen to the point I could not see what I was taking.
These set backs were not going to stop me...... As I swatted the bugs and wiped off the lens of the camera I clicked away all the while hoping to get a decent shot as my viewing screen was totally fogged over. I was listening for the beep on my camera to tell me when the shot was right.

I had my ring-light attached to the camera as it was quite dim
and I hoped it was illuminating this awesome specimen.

I quickly dashed inside to get away from the bugs and to see what I had. I was not in the house more than 30 minutes and thought I would dash out again to take a few more.
Out the door I dashed to the spot only to find nothing. WHAT.... ITS GONE!!! I searched on bended knee and its no where to be seen. DID I imagine it?
NO..... I have proof in my camera but where did it go?
I can only surmise it does not like much light and the sun was coming over the trees now.

So here it is, my elusive mushroom, decked out in black pinstripes and filigree lace.

Here it what I was battling most of the time was a fogged up camera lens.

Is this not the most beautiful thing? The tall one only stands 2" and
the head is the size of a nickle. Its paper thin and transparent, you can see almost
through it. I only wish I had some better photos of it but due to the conditions this morning
this is the best I could get.

Look at the stem, its like you can see water bubbles inside.

Okay Ginny of  "Let You Light Shine" , what it is? I have gone the usual route and cant find anything on this mushroom? Folks, "Ginny is a wealth of knowledge". She and I are alike in that we discover things, then have to dig deep to try and find out info on it. She is the one that told me what my bug was, a Katydid.
I hope you all have a blessed day and I am off to find the Benadryl......scratchin', scratch... scratch..

UPDATE~ I found out by some searchin' its a form of "Ink Cap" mushroom. Will update when I learn more about this one.

Haha - the teacher in me, makes me think of the wonderful Dr. Seuss book - Horton Hears a Who!!
YOU are amazing for finding this beauty below our feet.

Thanks so much for the mention!! I was preparing to go into full research mode, but I see you beat me to it this time! Ink Cap, I will be very interested to see what you find on this!! The underside is prettier than the top, for sure! From your first picture, you would never know how tiny it is!! Wow to the stem with the bubbles inside! I may have to search mushroom stems on Google, let me know if you find out what that is about! Maybe mushroom stems are full of liquid? I think mushrooms like the dark, though I have seen many in the middle of the day. I read somewhere once that commercially grown ones are grown in caves? yikes! Don't know if I believe that.

So delicate and pretty....and so tiny it could be easily missed or stepped on.

Girl, this is so cool. Love your enthusiasm. You are a true photo journalist! I just love your photos, and love the name of your mushroom, the "Black Pinstripe with Silver Metallic Lace."
I just know there has to be a garden gnome somewhere under that shroom! Be watching... he must be hiding.

I finds these in my lawn in the early morning too. They're such delicate little mushrooms. Great photos of them.

That is unbelievable...so delicate! Sometimes it's hard work to take photos...you are proving it!

BTW slap vinegar on those mosquito bites (right away) and they will stop hurting.

What an interesting mushroom! Love your story about battling the elements to get the shot.
