"The Mini World".... my backyard. Mini orange mushrooms.

These are called, Orange Pinwheel Mushrooms.

 God created the heavens and the earth and all its inhabitants be they large or small. I am thankful we have the ability to see most with our own naked eye but when it comes to much smaller items we humans need a bit of help. Thank You lord for high magnification.

I was in my yard early yesterday AM with camera in hand.  I spotted some fungi on a tree stump and thought how lovely those fluffy clouds looked. As I was walking over to the area, I was paying close attention to every step I placed in the grass as my footing is still a bit shaky. To my amazement I saw a small white mushroom  peeping out between the blades of grass and a bit of orange color as well.

This looked more intriguing than the tree stump so down I went, on my knees in the grass for a closer look. Its truly another world down there when you get your nose to grass.

SO... with me on my knees, buttocks in air, nose pressed to the camera and camera embedded in the grass...I zoomed in for a close look (all the while hoping none of the neighbors were looking out their window to see me in this position)......  I was stunned to see small tiny orange mushrooms with their tops no larger than 4 mm in diameter and standing 1-1/2" tall or less. I got lost in thought while the camera shutter was going off, I did not even feel the 20 or so mosquito bites I acquired while in that position...need I tell you where most of those bite are????? hum????? Makes sitting an uncomfortable experience.

May God bless and keep you all safe.

I have a "picture" in my mind's eye of the "photographer's position"! =) Those orange mushrooms look like tiny umbrellas.

Hope you have a nice and scratch-free weekend.

Best,
Bonnie

Again, amazing pictures!!! Your bitten bottom was well worth it for our entertainment! They look a bit like bells! But are they really mushrooms? The stems don't look mushroom-like, and are there gills underneath? Oh, maybe you could pick one and look on the underside. But they must be mushrooms, in every other way they look like them, plus they are with the white one. That picture of the white one is something else!! It is SO white that it looks like a hole in the picture!!!

Hi Tammy, I had some catching up to do with blog reading today. The mushrooms are amazing and too bad about the mosquito bits - been there and got bitten too. I enjoyed the grasshopper post and the lantana closeups. Good to hear the news about your stepson being able to leave rehab. Hope it works out that he can stay in his home, which will be more comfortable and familiar.

I love little surprises like these little mushrooms. Most of us would have just walked on by or ON them without even seeing them. Great photos!

Your new camera lens is amazing! How do you hold the camera still for these shots? Are you laying on the ground to take this?
BTW- Your lawnmower has a good, sharp blade. Looks at how nicely the grass blades are cut and not torn or shredded!
I'm still going back to look at your grasshopper!!
Enjoy the last of the "cool" weather -- hear we're in for another head wave :-{{

I'm itching now! Your photos are lovely...I often think of what it would like to be a bug. I loved the movie 'A Bug's Life'. Very sweet Tammy!
