Hard Rain Gonna' Fall

You can see the rain through the trees at a distance.

I slowed my shutter speed on the camera to capture the drops.
Not the shot I am looking for but I will keep trying.

Its a gully-washer, we are expected to get 3-4" today.
Glad the lawn guy did not come on Monday, the
seed would have been washed into my neighbors yards.

A gully-washer? I haven't heard that in at least two decades! No one around here says it and when I do, they just stare at me as if I actually mean some person is coming to wash out the gullys. You've made me homesick! We've had a dreary mist all day but...no gully washers!!

Best,
Bonnie

To me, it's always an awsome site to see the rain coming down in the distance -- almost like a wall moving closer and closer. I loved the shots you got! Don't like gully washers, though. We're starting into our dry season -- makes gardening a little harder -- but the warmth of the sun is wonderful right now! Keep dry!!!!

That's what it looks like here, too. It looks like we have some new ponds all around our house.

Well up here in the Great White North the same weather system is more snow than rain....maybe 2" worth which isn't much but is causing complete white-outs.

And.... here in south Texas some people are praying for rain. We need it, but I'm always afraid of the gully washers..... If only we could order a little bit of rain..... NOT!
I love your pictures!

Thanks for the heads-up. Here on the VA eastern shore we are supposed to have a washout day on Thursday and it's starting after midnight tonight. It will be a good day to be indoors that's for sure and maybe take some photos of the weather outside as you did.

Morning Mz Southern,
Is your creek next to your fence the norm?
Nice shot!!
Was hoping that things would dry out today, even after getting more rain last night. No windows in my classroom, but I certianly heard the rain on the roof and the long rumbles of thunder all day yesterday.
Not complaining though --- we always need the rain; especially for the May Flowers!!

Guys I will sure send up a prayer you get rain those of you in TX, I know how dry you all have been. WE too have been the same way.

Hey Tree, no creek...gal, That is my neighbor's yard on the other side of that fence. They too are having a tough time growing grass, They have loads of trees. I tolk them they will have to cut some trees down in order to have grass. The rain coming down the hill was like al river in their yard.

Even though it was a gully washer, isn't it peaceful to sit and watch the rain fall? We've had our share of it lately. Keep working on those pics and show us how they are coming!
